Carclaze Farm is set within four acres of grounds incorporating an outdoor children’s adventure play area, indoor games room and a farmhouse paddock where guests are invited each day to collect eggs and participate in the morning feed of the chickens, ducks, geese, goats and sheep.
In 1985, Allen and Jean purchased the property and spent a number of years faithfully renovating and restoring the outbuildings – including a grain store and dairy - into four unique self-catering cottages. Allen and Jean live in the adjacent farmhouse and continue to personally run, maintain and manage Carclaze Farm today.
Carclaze Farm dates from around the 15th century when it formed part of the Duchy of Cornwall. In 1954, during its time as a working Duchy farm, the property was visited by Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother (when a new toilet was installed especially for the occasion!).
